I need to start my message for this issue with important information regarding the 2017 TTOS Las Vegas Convention cars announced in the last issue. TTOS has made a decision to cancel the redecoration project for the 2017 Convention Cars, and return all orders received for the cars. In their place, we will have the O gauge car made as a United States produced product by Lionel. The S gauge car will be a car produced in China by MTH or S Helper. The O gauge car will have a production limit of 150 cars, and the S gauge car, 125 cars. The 2017 car is still the Nevada Southern HEP (generator) boxcar. At this time, the O gauge car will be a 6464 style car, and the S gauge car a typical American Flyer (MTH or S Helper) style boxcar. At press time, the price for the cars is still going through the estimation process with the manufacturers. Lastly, when the order forms become available, the cars are sold on a first come first served basis. When we sell out that is the end of the offering.
To continue with the 2017 Las Vegas Convention theme you will find some amendments to the tours and time schedules posted in the convention brochure. Please view the changes to the convention schedule elsewhere in this issue. In addition, for those planning to attend the convention, please call the Linq Hotel early to make your room reservations to avoid going past the room cutoff date.
We are breaking in a new Order Board Editor with the next issue of the Bulletin. To assist the new person get up to speed quickly, I am requesting that all advertisers resubmit continual running ads on the provided form. Members wishing to run ads in multiple issues need to check the “multiple issues box” and indicate how many issues the ad will run. I hope this will end the confusion once and for all on the duration of continuing ads.
Lastly, I hope to see as many TTOS members as possible in Las Vegas for the 51st National Convention. In addition to being in Las Vegas, and all the tours, layouts, trading hall, and other convention activities, this year we will take nominations for the National Officers. Silver State Division Bill Arndt is the Nominations Chairman, leading the effort to fill the ballot with qualified candidates. The nominating process takes place at the membership meeting during the convention.
That’s all for now, enjoy your trains.
